new blog, who dis?

Howdy y’all, and welcome to my little corner of the internet — where I ramble about everything and nothing, and somehow make it worth your while (fingers crossed).

Let’s kick things off with a life update, because what better way to introduce yourself than by oversharing with strangers on the internet?

Pickleball: A Humbling Experience

My first pickleball season officially wrapped up yesterday, and… well, let’s just say we’re not exactly championship material. We finished 1-5, and the one team we managed to beat went 0-6 — so make of that what you will. In my defense, playing into the wind is brutal, and I’m blaming at least two of those losses squarely on Mother Nature. No notes, no regrets (okay, maybe a few regrets). Thank you Rebekah, JJ, and Dmitri for joining me in this brief chapter of my life.

Marathon or Bust — 2027 Edition

In a moment of either pure inspiration or complete delusion, I’ve officially signed up for the Austin Marathon in 2027. The training plan is locked in, and today — April 14, 2026 — was literally Day One. I’m starting from the couch and working my way up, and I had Claude help me put together a program I’m actually excited about. You can check it out here if you’re curious or need some masochistic inspiration. Current starting weight: 187 lbs. Let’s see where this goes.

Bird Nerd Moment

I downloaded Merlin Bird ID (yes, the bird app — don’t judge me), and used it during my cool-down lap this morning out here in Lago Vista. I was not prepared for how many species would show up. This morning’s sightings included a Northern Mockingbird, Lark Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Yellow-throated and Yellow-rumped Warblers, Mourning Dove, Brown-headed Cowbird, Northern Cardinal, Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Cedar Waxwing, House Finch, Orange-crowned Warbler, Black-crested Titmouse, Bewick’s Wren, and a Summer Tanager. Fifteen species on a casual cool-down. Lago Vista is lowkey a birding hotspot and I had no idea.

Currently Consuming

Gaming: Crimson Desert has completely taken over my brain. If I could quit all responsibilities and just play it full-time, I genuinely would. No further questions.

Anime rotation:

  • Sentenced to be a Hero
  • Jujutsu Kaisen
  • Solo Leveling
  • Frieren
  • Fate/Strange Fake

Non-anime:

  • The Pitt — holding it down as the sole live-action show in the lineup.

That’s the life update for now. Stick around — there’s plenty more rambling where that came from. 🤠
