Farewell Manny

June 21, 2017 by allan

Where do I begin?

When I first talked to Manny, he was sitting in the front office waiting to interview for the L1 Support role. The first thing I noticed was his hair ((what about it tho – add a detail)). I said, “hi” and he chuckled a little bit and nervously said, “hi.”

He was still sitting there when I walked back to the office later so I asked him, “Are you interviewing today?” He quickly replied with, “Uh, yeah.”

“You’re gonna get the job,” I told him, and that was the last time I saw him for a while.

I don’t remember how much time passed between the interview and his start date, but I do remember seeing him walking around introducing himself to fellow colleagues and giving away his new hire cookies. I’m not sure how our exchanges began, but we quickly hit it off and became good friends.

Taco Bell & Arizona Green Teas have been the foundation of our friendship. With these things in common it didn’t take long before we took a trip together to the San Antonio office. Manny had never been to a Buccees before so you know we had to take him there.

As you can tell, Manny was very new to the Texas lifestyle.

Here is Manny buying a single potato 🥔 at buccees.

I’m going to miss the nonstop bickering we do every few days. I’ll miss the morning hugs that started my day, followed by the chokeholds I would put you in. You’re the big brother I never had and I really appreciate everything you’ve taught me. I know you’re going to do well in your new role and I can’t wait to see how much you grow in your career. Please keep in touch. <3

Ear Infections

August 31, 2016 by allan

I can’t recall the last time I’ve ever had an ear infection so I didn’t know what to expect when my ear started hurting out of nowhere.

Never in my life have I ever wanted to rip out my ear just to make the pain stop. The kind of pain that makes you go into the fetal position and prevents you from doing anything. The simple things we’ve come to enjoy in life, eating, sleeping, even daily tasks as walking around were impossible with the amount of pain.

Vicodin, I’m not a big fan of opioids due to high addiction rates and the dependency feeling they make you have. “Take one or two every four hours” more like, “only works for 2 hours”

tl;dr got my first ear infection, they really hurt.
